HERE AT A.LONDON WE ARE KNOWN FOR CREATING AWARD-WINNING LUXURY INTERIORS AND PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR ABILITY TO DELIVER DESIGN-LED SHOW HOMES WHICH MAXIMISE DESIRABILITY.
STEP INSIDE THREE OF OUR RECENT AWE-INSPIRING PROJECTS...
West Village is a unique new development set in the heart of Notting Hill, one of London’s most iconic, vibrant and desirable neighbourhoods. Our client, a boutique residential developer wanted to make this £5.3 million townhouse stand out with a particular emphasis on adding value through design and attention to detail.
For this project our A.LONDON designers were inspired by the imagined homeowner. A creative individual with a carefully curated collection of objects and artwork, both old and new, acquired on their travels or perhaps from the independent boutiques and stalls that line the streets from Portobello Road right up to Notting Hill Gate. Our designers used bespoke upholstery, bold artwork and styled unique accessories to inject a strong sense of creative energy to create a property that perfectly suits the inhabitant's character.
Located in Mayfair, a stones throw from the Royal Academy of Arts, the Burlington Gate development boasting 42 luxury apartments and exceptional penthouses encompasses five purpose built art galleries. Inspired by the area’s contemporary art scene our A.LONDON designers created a fresh modern space, using bold art work and rich fabrics to add warmth and personality.
For this project we worked with a private client who was keen to maximise the rental potential of this lavish three bed apartment within a short lead time. Just fifteen days later our A.LONDON designers had created and installed a bespoke scheme which instantly secured a tenant.
The penthouse at Hampshire House offers unrivalled and unobstructed views across the London skyline, allowing you to bask in one of London’s most iconic green landscapes Hyde Park. London’s largest Royal Park, once the hunting ground of Henry the VIII and the site of the Great Exhibition of 1851, this historic site now plays host to summertime music events and winter wonder.
For this project, our A.LONDON designers were given a very specific brief. The client, a boutique developer wanted to uncover to full potential of this £11 million luxury home by contrasting the grandiose period exterior of this Victorian apartment building with a contemporary, minimalist, art gallery inspired interior. Our designers used statement pieces and bespoke artwork throughout to create a colourful modern space, the perfect place to enjoy the breathtaking view.
Our A.LONDON designers kicked off 2018 with a trip to the International Interiors Show in Cologne in search of inspiration and fresh ideas for the year ahead.
IMM Cologne 2018 had echoes of 1920s and 30s golden era glamour with many suppliers combining subtle Art Deco touches with more contemporary elements to create liveable yet luxurious spaces. The use of luxe materials, dark woods, jewel-toned velvets and metallic finishes conjured a sense of nostalgic cocktail party glamour. Whilst statement lighting, opulent wallpaper and elegant room dividers perfectly summed up the indulgent mood of the trend.
Plush velvets and comforting sheepskins are staying put for 2018 but the use of texture is set to become much more varied with the use of mixed materials and multiple textures layered to add harmonious dimension. Our A.LONDON designers were particularly inspired by Gan’s 3D rugs, and the sheepskin chairs and stools at Arflex and Taff.
Feature walls are now a thing of the past. In their place, big, bold, impressive art work and super-sized mirrors now make the statement. Suppliers used oversized round mirrors to open up the spaces, whilst single pieces of high-impact art were used to create unique visual interest.
Continuing their journey of inspiration our A.LONDON designers headed to Mason et Object in Paris. One of the most exciting events in the design calendar, this five day fair showcases the work of industry veterans alongside creations from the most exciting new talent in the design world.
This years Maison et Objet saw a movement away from white and the fresh scandi looks of recent years in favour of a darker more opulent colour palette. Many suppliers used dark walls and rich jewel tones with pops of gold and bronze to create moody and atmospheric interiors. Look out for this in our upcoming scheme at Hamilton Court.
Greenery and house plants remain very much in favour for 2018. The idea of bringing the outdoors in has become something much bigger with bamboo furniture and rattan accessories adding a laid back tropical feel, whilst the return of taxidermy adds a touch of countryside eccentricity.
Millennial pink isn’t going anywhere, with pastel shades still featuring strongly, but this year the tones are deeper, richer and warmer. Our A.LONDON designers saw lots of greens, pinks and sumptuous raspberry shades. Think less ice cream parlour and more grown up saturated hues. This new sophisticated take on the pastel palette, grounded by the darker wall shades, fresh greenery and complimentary injections of metallic texture creates a more opulent and luxurious feel for 2018.
Where better for our A.LONDON designers to conclude their voyage of inspiration than at Stockholm Design Week. The most important event in the Scandinavian design calendar, with over 200 design events held around the city.
At this year’s Stockholm Design Week there was a naturalistic theme running throughout. A palette of earthy orange tones, dusty greys and deep reds were complimented with furniture pieces made out of raw materials. Some of the furniture pieces were also paired with coloured upholstery and minimal, tactile styling to create an effortless, stylish environment. One designer explained that the emphasis was on creating a calm and collected living space within today's fast paced and chaotic way of living.
This organic feel continued with woven, rattan furniture. Whether a large headboard or a small occasional chair, this intricate detail added a handcrafted, raw quality to the space. The ancient technique was updated with modern shapes and frames giving it a fresh new flare.
To compliment the earthy tones and organic textures many designers used sheepskin cushions, throws and rugs to add a warmth and contrast to the rustic environment. Some designers pushed the boundaries really embracing the sheepskin trend by using it on larger statement pieces.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT
WORKING WITH A.LONDON?
"There's never a dull moment working within the A.LONDON team. With a variety of private clients and show homes you are sure to never have the same kind of job to work on. The ability for us to be creative and innovative is encouraged with a large amount of flexibility which comes from the top. We are never restricted from flourishing a new idea, something that enables us to stand out from the rest.
We not only have fun with the projects we work on but also in the office. Our team morale is always on a high, if things get too much, you can rely on any member of the team to step in and help, no matter
what the job is."
WHO IS YOUR CURRENT INSTA OBSESSION?
"My current Insta obsession is @lizachloe. She's a freelance art director and creative entrepreneur. She makes her Instagram really creative and draws all over her pictures. The images themselves are really colourful and cool but she then draws over them and turns them into artwork, personalising them a bit."
WHAT IS THE ONE QUOTE YOU LIVE BY?
"Nobody ever made a difference by
being like somebody else."
"It's important to look for inspiration elsewhere, not just at designers. We have to look outside the box so nothing is ever the same because its easy to make something similar."
TALK US THROUGH A DAY IN THE LIFE OF YOU AS A DESIGNER IN THE A.LONDON STUDIO.
"When beginning a project, I start with a presentation outlining the client's brief and concept to get a full understanding of how we can deliver a project to suit our client to the best ability. This is followed by researching on Pinterest for fabrics and inspiration towards a colour scheme or theme which can sometimes take lead in the overall design. After this has been worked out, I then carefully select furniture pieces suited to my chosen concept.
As well as designing in the studio, I am also part of an Instagram team which manages the A.LONDON Instagram."
FINALLY, WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP FOR DESIGNERS OUT THERE THAT WANT TO JOIN THE TEAM?
"My top tip would be to have the desire and drive to produce beautiful, memorable and powerful interiors with clear understanding of your clients’ desires and lifestyle and exceeding their expectation.
With team members starting out as graduates who have now flourished to become directors, here at A.LONDON we like to encourage and offer career development to those who join the team, and that's something we're proud of."

AND MAXIMISING VALUE THROUGH TWO OF OUR RECENT CASE STUDIES
DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...
"We worked with A.LONDON on our show home at Ashchurch Villas Development in prime West London. The team were a joy to work with and managed to stick to a very tight programme without sacrificing on quality. The high quality service and product which they provided has been a big help to sell the properties and I am sure we will be using them again across some of our other schemes."
"Following a site survey A.LONDON committed to a full installation within 20 working days of cleared payment. To their credit, they have delivered on their commitment.
A.LONDON did a great job transforming our apartment without the need for redecorating. An excellent service for marketing, with a very quick turnaround. The proof of the pudding is now in the eating, now that we are beginning to market the property. Already those who visited before Christmas have expressed greater interest, not to mention surprise at the speed & extent of the turnaround."
Did you know... the A.LONDON team recently attended London Fashion Week Festival gaining an insight into the fashion world through talks with industry experts such as Daphne Guinness and runway shows covering the key SS18 trends and the latest collection from Jamie Wei Huang.
